Resin 3D Printer

Overview

Worked with a partner at a summer camp to make a resin 3D printer in 5 days. Used power tools and machines with wood and metal materials to create a personalized design with full functionality.

Project Details:

I came up with the idea to make a motor-controlled lift table design. At this time I was more into woodworking and the physical aspect of creating so I stuck to the main design and construction while my partner, who had coding experience, worked on the communication and coding aspect.

Problems Faced:

There was a lot of trial and error with how much we wanted the motor to turn. The turns of the motor were dependent on the thickness of the resin layer needed to properly harden or "print" the new layer of the piece.

Takeaway:

At the end of the week my partner and I were extremely proud of our project! This was the first time I had gone completely from concept to full construction and function. Our project worked stunningly well and I even have a fun batch of keepsakes I got to take home with me from Illinois.
